Finding Spaces to Share My Book

ree

One of the most exciting parts of publishing my book has been the dream of sharing it with others—not just online, but face to face. I picture sitting in front of a group of kids, reading the words out loud, watching them laugh at the silly parts, and seeing their eyes widen at the exciting parts.

The challenge is finding those spaces. I’ve been reaching out to libraries, schools, and local organizations to see about doing author readings. Along the way, I’ve learned something important: libraries (and similar places) are cautious when it comes to author events.

And it makes sense. Libraries want to make sure they’re offering books and programs that serve their whole community. They have limited time and staff, and they get many requests. Sometimes they also want to be sure the book has been reviewed or purchased through their regular distributors. It isn’t personal—it’s about balancing fairness, schedules, and resources.

Even though it can feel discouraging at first, I try to look at it as part of the journey. Every “not right now” brings me closer to the “yes” that’s waiting. In the meantime, I’m exploring creative options—independent bookstores, community centers, coffee shops, and even local events and fairs are all spaces where stories can come alive.

At the heart of it, I just want to share my book with children and families. And whether that happens in a library, a school, or a small local shop, I know the story will find its way into the right hands.
