Constructive Criticism: My First Bit of Advice

When you put your very first book out into the world, you brace yourself for all kinds of feedback—excitement, support, and yes… constructive criticism.
Recently, I received my first piece of honest critique: some of the text inside my book was placed poorly on certain pages. And honestly? They were right.
The first book is always a learning curve, especially when you’re self-publishing. I knew going in that the formatting wasn’t 100% perfect. I experimented, tried things on my own, and did my best with the knowledge I had at the time. Sometimes that means things end up a little off—but that’s part of the process.
Perfection isn’t the starting point; it’s the direction you grow toward. Every note, every small piece of feedback helps me get better. I’m grateful for it because it means people are reading, noticing, and cheering me on as I improve.
Book one was my experiment. Book two will be stronger because of it. You’ve got to start somewhere—and I’m proud I started. 💪📚
